Stokes signs for Sunderland

Anthony Stokes has signed for Sunderland for £2m, seeing the Black Cats as a showcase for his talents than either Celtic or Charlton: Stokes

He clearly has a high opinion of his own abilities, whether he would have done anything for us is another matter. Our first priority has to be central midfield.

He has made the same mistake as Jon Stead. He snubbed us for the mackams and has hardly scored since.

The boy has made a bad move.

Coming to us in the state we are in would not have been much better. However, those who thought his signature would have been the coming of a new messiah, were I am sure pretty wide of the mark. Scoring for Falkirk is not the same as slotting past the likes of Friedel, let alone Cech and that is reflected in an £2m price tag, the last £2m striker we bought was Bent and look what that has got us ... pretty zero on the goals front. For morale it would have been nice to see someone come in.
