U's turn down offer for Halford

Colchester United have turned down an offer of £2m from Charlton for 22-year old utility player Greg Halford. Apparently the U's want £3 million. Reading and a number of other Premiership clubs are also interested in the player who wants to leave Layer Road.

Our last signing from Colchester, Mark Kinsella, was one of our greatest ever successes. But it's difficult to get players to come to relegation threatened Charlton and the £3m demanded by cash strapped Colchester seems excessive. But seeing he is out of contract at the end of the season they may have to settle for less.
