Addicks bid for Roberts?

Sky Sports is reporting that Charlton have made a £1.8m bid for powerful Wigan forward Jason Roberts who does not see his future at the JJB Stadium. Blackburn, Villa and Birmingham are other clubs said to be interested.

Sky Sports is a more reliable source than many rumour mills and Iain Dowie is said to think highly of Roberts who would offer more value and aggression than Bartlett and Bothroyd combined. If the deal goes ahead, it would be welcomed by most of the Addickted. Darren Bent and Roberts would be a good combination up front, although it would leave Marcus Bent without a clear starting role.

No way should we be selling any players to spudz and certainly less than their real value. Roberts D.Bent combo looks good, but a Roberts M.Bent combo sucks. Liverpool allegedly can no longer afford Bent junior now that Cisse remains on their books, lucky break for us then, 'cause if I was junior I would jump a the chance. We could always sell the spudz our cook who is a vegetaria, and we know they like vegetables, after all they bought Smurph

Hopefully this won't drag out like the Sidwell saga. Even knowing this is always just an agent using the media as a negotiating tool, it's difficult not to follow and want to believe we are going to get these guys.
