Addicks to appeal against Sankofa dismissal

Charlton are to appeal against the red card awarded to Osei Sankofa at the Emirates Stadium yesterday. This is a rather unusual action for the Addicks, but Alan Pardew has made it clear that he thought the dismissal was unjust because the attacking player was offside.

In my view it was a decision taken by the book. Old Mother Riley was entitled to do it, but was a rather harsh interpretation given that referees have discretion - which he exercised later given that Diawara could have been sent off for the second penalty.

Sankofa would have to serve his suspension at Forest on Saturday and Charlton lack cover in the right back position, although Kish is capable of playing there.
