Popular left back Chris Powell has left the Irons and re-joined Charlton. It is assumed that the 36-year old will perform a player-coach role and might even be watched and developed to see if he might make a suitable future Charlton manager. Powell's agent Tony Finnigan commented, 'West Ham had a number of weeks to tie Chris down, but they didn't and now they have lost one of their most experienced players.'
Powell was a favourite with fans at The Valley for his dedication, commitment and skill and also for his 'jack in the box' celebrations after victories.
