Reports are circulating from normally reliable sources that Charlton are poised to make a big signing on Monday. Charlton are being linked again with Reading midfielder Steve Sidwell, now back from his honeymoon in Mauritius, and are said to have offered £2m for the former Arsenal trainee. Reading would be sorry to lose him, but if Charlton do not make a move, Villa, Everton and Sunderland are reported to be interested.
Sidwell would be a good signing but not a dramatic one. One other name that has been mentioned is Sean Davis from Spurs.
