Charlton in race for Gabbidon

Charlton are interested in Cardiff City centre half Danny Gabbidon. Cardiff are desperate to find funds to rebuild their squad and there is believed to be a price tag of £1.5m on the Welsh international. His fee could be more covered by the £2m Fulham are said to be prepared to offer for Jason Euell.

Birmingham City have now lost interest, but West Brom are reported to be poised to make a bid, so it is far from certain that we will see the first Welsh international at The Valley since Johnny Robinson. What is clear is that the Addicks had to do something to plug holes in their defence with Chris Perry nearing the end of his career.

Charlton are also reported to be interested in Blackburn striker Jon Stead.
